This is an oddball tip, but it really works. Eat with your opposite hand. It's more complicated than you might think, and maybe a little messy, but it gets you to concentrate on your eating, and realize when you're full. I tried this a few years ago and it helped a lot.
Good luck!

If I could get past the sugar cravings I'd probably do ok. My husband has done well using fitday.com. He does well recording every bite he eats and this site gives you a pie chart so you know how much is carbs, protein, etc. that you're eating daily.
Check out this story about how a woman from Grand Prairie lost half her size. There are some other websites in this article that may help. http://www.nbcdfw.com/health/diet_fitness/Grand-Prairie-Woman-Revea...
Barb, I have undergone an amazing weight loss transformation. I was heavy my entire life beginning at birth. I come from a family that uses food as love and comfort. 7 years ago, I weighed in at roughly 300 lbs. I now weigh half of that. I began going to the gym, watching refined sugars (white flour) that means bread, pasta, etc., began eating alot of sugar free desserts like pudding and even pies made with sugar free pudding. I make sure I have a vegetable and fruit on each plate and eat those FIRST. I really believe with my heart of hearts that you have to BALANCE and not DEPRIVE. If I want pizza, I eat pizza but I have 2-3 slices and always thin crust. I also watch what I eat the rest of the day if i know that's what's for dinner. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of exercise for the body AND soul. Make it an event. Get some girlfriends together and make it your "me time." That's the best advice I can give in a simple paragraph but I would be MORE than happy to discuss this further with you anytime you like. I would love to help you discover how different you will look and feel. I've kept it off now for 7 years and feel very passionately about doing it in a healthy manor so that it doesn't come back off. Remember, it has to be a lifestyle change not a diet. :o) Good luck!!!!
My Mom says she eats less if she doesn't bend her elbow.
Here's a 3-bite rule a reader sent to a magazine I was flipping through this morning.
First bite to get a good taste
Second bite to verify it was as good as you thought.
Third bite is your last bite.
